This workshop will include Sage tutorials for newcomers, with a slant
toward algebraic combinatorics, as well as coding sprints for
developers.
Tentative Schedule
------------------

Monday-Wednesday: coding sprints

Thursday-Friday: tutorial for newcomers, with a slant toward algebraic combinatorics

Newcomers are in fact welcome to join from the beginning of the week;
there won't be specific events organized for them then, but we will be
available for questions and discussions while they get through
tutorials on their own or work on their personnal projects.

Sage Days 49: Free and Practical Software for (Algebraic) Combinatorics, June 17th-21st, Orsay

FPSAC 2013 (Formal Power Series and Algebraic Combinatorics) is the main yearly international conference in algebraic combinatorics. It will happen this year in Paris, June 24th-28th. We are organizing a Sage-Combinat Days as a satellite event the week before:

Lodging

We have negociated a reduced price at the nearby Residhome Appart Hotel from Bures-sur-Yvette http://www.residhome.com/reservation1-residence-hoteliere-aparthotel-buressuryvette-183.html. The rate is of 66€ per night (56€ 5 nights or more) for a two person studio (double bed or twin bed). There is also a reduced rate of 106€ (90€ for 5 nights or more) for a four person apartment (two double beds; probably not so convenient). Breakfast is not included; see the web site for the amenities.

You should reserve your room from the link above. To benefit from the reduced price you just need to mention that you come for the "Sage Days 49 conference" in the "Question" open field. The price reduction won't show up on the web but that's ok: you will get the reduction when you will make the final payment at the counter.

To reduce the expenses you are strongly encouraged to find a room mate to share a double room with. In particular, for those person that will get funding from us for lodging, we will most likely reimburse on the basis of 33 euros per night in order to support more participants.

Caveat: there are only a limited number of rooms with twin beds, and they tend to be booked early. Therefore you are strongly encouraged to reserve your room as soon as possible, even if you are not absolutely sure about the dates. You can cancel your reservation later on (see their web site for details). And in the worst case some other participant is likely to be happy to take over your reservation.

Funding

For participants coming from universities in the United States:

  • There is funding from our NSF grant. If you are planning to attend FPSAC 2013 and Sage Days 49 please indicate so in the FPSAC application for support. The deadline for FPSAC support is March 15, 2013.
  • If you missed mentioning you are attending sage days in the FPSAC 2013 application of support please email Anne Schilling (email anne at math.ucdavis.edu) with your CV. The deadline for this is March 30, 2013.

For now this all you need to do to request funding.
